My council HAS adopted the Charter
I am a councillor, I want to know how my council can do more to support local people living with MND

Thank you for wanting to find out what more your council can do to help make a difference to the lives of people with MND and their carers in your community.

Adopting the MND Charter can be the start of a strong partnership. Together, your council and the MND Association, can discuss additional steps we can take together to improve the lives of people with MND.

If you are a councillor, or work with the council, please get in touch.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Frame and display the MND Charter adoption certificate in a public part of the council offices.
  • Disseminate the ‘Guide to MND for councillors’ booklets to all your elected councillors.
  • Promote your support for the MND Charter by posting about it on your website. Sample wording for your website is included in the pack
  • Disseminate the postcards to encourage colleagues to find out more about the MND Charter.
  • Display the posters in your council offices/town hall and other appropriate places.
  • Keep copies of the full MND charter in common areas of your offices for colleagues to read.
  • Order more resources and distribute them to all staff, professionals and partner organisations providing services to people with MND and their carers, on behalf of the council.
  • Use the template press release to tell your local media about your council adopting the MND Charter.
  • Use the council’s social media channels to promote your support. We have provided ideas and a sample tweet and Facebook post you might want to use.
  • Take photos of how you are promoting the MND Charter and share with us what you are doing so we can promote it nationally on our website and publications.
